 Introduction

Ammonia is a compound that plays a significant role in understanding basic chemistry concepts. Ammonia is widely used in various industries, including agriculture, cleaning products, refrigeration, and manufacturing processes. Hence, ammonia is produced in large quantities. Ammonia is an important raw material for the production of nitrogenous fertilisers which are essential for the growth of plants. Ammonia undergoes several chemical reactions. Classroom preparation of ammonia, laboratory preparation of ammonia and physical properties of ammonia are here mentioned.

Objectives

The learner should be able to ;

1) Explain the laboratory preparation of ammonia.

2) Justify the physical properties of ammonia.

3) Examine the reason behind why the ammonia gas is collected in an inverted gas jar.

4) Analyse the uses of ammonia in daily life.
